Welcome to Unbound
Unbound Scotland is a new project empowering people to come together to take local climate action that supports good health in their communities.
By supporting communities to take the lead on the issues important to them, Unbound will bring together practical climate action and ways we can improve these health inequalities.
Why we need action on climate and health
We know climate change is already having an impact on our communities.
Whether it’s rising temperatures, increased rainfall, or knock-on effects such as food insecurity, the connection between the climate and people’s health is clear and pressing.
We also know that these impacts are not felt equally. That means that some communities experience poorer health than others in unfair and avoidable ways.
Scotland faces a health inequalities crisis.
Empowering change
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Unbound will:
Work in each of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas to understand local issues, priorities, and needs.
Provide practical support, knowledge and skills around both climate impacts and how we address health inequalities through a series of Unbound events.
Capture this activity and learning so we can better understand the policy and practice conditions that support community-led action on climate impact and health inequalities.
Unbound will also be working with local and national partners to build new skills and knowledge of healthy and resilient places. We envision collaborators in this widening network growing the confidence to integrate these into their policies and practice.
